Four Score in Double Figures to Lead A&M to 10-0

Feb. 3, 2007

Final Stats

Team balance and defense has led Alabama A&M to its most successful start in its NCAA Division I history. That trend continued Saturday as four Bulldogs scored in double figures and the defense forced 27 turnovers in a 70-59 victory over Mississippi Valley State. The Bulldogs held the Delta Devils to just 33 percent from the field. Tamika Green's 13 points led the balanced attack. Felicia Drummond and Christian Malone each added 12, and Ashleonte' Samuel scored 11.

The Bulldogs charged out to an 18-6 lead only to see MVSU come back to cut the lead to three by halftime.  The Devils rallied to take as much as a six-point lead in the first six minutes of the second half at 40-34 as A&M managed just three points over an eight minute span.

The defense was the key though, as A&M pushed its way back in the lead with an 11-2 run.  Rebekkah Barnes' three-pointer gave the Bulldogs a 12-point lead with just over two minutes to play and iced the game.
