A&M Forces Overtime, but Loses Heartbreaker

Feb. 5, 2007

Final Stats

Trant Simpson was 0-8 from the field until his three-point field goal tied the game at 55 at the end of regulation. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs did not take advantage of the extra period and lost a heartbreaker Monday at home to Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 66-65. Cornelius Hester kept the Dogs in the game for much of the evening scoring 19 points while hitting five treys. But it was his foul with six seconds remaining in overtime after the Bulldogs had tied game at 65 that proved fatal for AAMU. UAPB hit one free throw and A&M failed to get a good look at a game-winning shot.

Four Bulldogs scored in double figures led as well by Mickell Gladness' 15 points and 10 rebounds. Simpson and Jonathan Inman scored 10. Simpson had a career-high 14 assists.
