Five Runs with Two Outs in Ninth Win Game for A&M

March 25, 2007

Final Stats

Sunday's finale of a SWAC three-game series between Alabama A&M and Mississippi Valley State turned into an instant classic for the Bulldogs. With two outs and no one on-base in the bottom of the ninth, A&M staged a historic rally scoring five times in the inning to post a 6-5 victory over the Delta Devils. The win was the first Alabama A&M victory in the SWAC over a team other than Alabama State since the Bulldogs defeated Jackson State on April 24, 2004.

Turner Washington and Bryan Evans each walked to begin the rally innocently enough. Wigberto Flores the beat out an infield single to keep the inning alive. Washington scored on a balk, and Kenneth Townsend delivered the big blow with a two-run double. Jerard Thomas tied the game with another double, and Marcus Spencer capped the heroics with a single to right field plating the winning run.

Kevin Collins worked three innings of relief to get the win on the mound.

The Bulldogs are now 9-16 overall and 3-6 in the SWAC.
