John Gaines has been hired as the head athletic trainer at Alabama A&M. Gaines comes to The Hill from Cisco Junior College in Texas, where he was the head athletic trainer. Gaines earned a Bachelor's degree in Health Management from Southeast Missouri State in 1997 and then a Master's degree from Tarleton State (Texas) in 1998. He has taught classes in physical education and served as an athletic trainer at both the collegiate and high school levels.
While at Cisco, he designed and supervised the construction of three athletic training facilities and worked to build the staff to an assistant trainer and 24 students.
During his tenures at SEMO and Tarleton, Gaines worked with the entire athletic staff, but focused his energies on baseball, football, track, and gymnastics teams.
Gaines enjoys hunting, golfing, coaching his children's athletic teams, and spending time with his family. He and his wife, Sandi, reside in Huntsville.
