BSC Tops Bulldogs 3-1 in Shortened Exhibition

Aug. 24, 2007

Alabama A&M head women's soccer coach Frank Davies worried in the preseason about two things entering the 2007 season - 1) the absence of his top scorer, Belinda Kanda, who is playing in the World Cup for Ghana, and 2) the Bulldogs do not have a true goalkeeper on their roster. Both showed in the season-opening exhibition Friday as Birmingham-Southern posted a 3-1 victory in a game shortened because rain and lightning postponed the beginning.

BSC's Caitlyn Gordon scored twice in the first half.  Her first goal came on a cross from Serena Murphy in the 16th minute. Anne McIntyre, who assisted Gordon directly on the second goal in the 32nd minute, also assisted on the first.

Gordon would provide the assist to Lindsay Miller on the Panthers' third goal, which came in the 66th minute.

Alabama A&M avoided the shutout just before the game was called due to darkness in the 70th minute as Madelyn Pittman found the net after a free kick setup from Ledile Matjekane and LaTisha Davis.
