Jonathan Belt's layup with 1:30 to play gave him a career high 16 points and also tied Monday night's game with Mississippi Valley State at 63. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, it was the last points they would score, and the Delta Devils eked out a 68-63 win at Elmore Gymnasium. The loss sends the Bulldogs to 1-3 in the SWAC and 4-10 overall.
Alabama A&M overcame an eight point deficit in the first half and led 34-31 at the intermission. The Bulldogs trailed 20-12 with 10:30 to play, but rallied on Belt's 12 first half points. Evan Hilton also had 13 of his game high 18 in the first.
Both teams shot over 50 percent from the floor, but the difference in the game came at the free throw line. MVSU hit 18-22, while the Bulldogs had just three charity attempts, making one.
Stanford Speech and Larry Cox each had 14 points to lead five Delta Devils in double figures.
