Malone Leads A&M Past Valley in Front of National Audience

Jan. 14, 2008

Final Stats

Christian Malone's prowess in the SWAC is usually based on her defensive ability and floor management. Rarely does the senior star for the Bulldogs include scoring on her resume. That was not the case Monday as Malone led A&M past Mississippi Valley State, 70-59, with a career-high 20 points in front of a live audience on ESPN-U. With the win, the Bulldogs move to 3-1 in the conference and 5-8 overall.

Malone hit all three of her three-point attempts and was 4-6 from the field. She also hit 9-10 from the freethrow line and retains her lead in that category among SWAC players.

The Bulldogs used a stifling defense in the first half to build a 35-19 halftime lead and cruised through the bulk of the second half. A&M converted 22 Valley turnovers into a 27-12 scoring advantage.

Dominisha Johnson continued her fine play with 12 points for the Bulldogs.

Portia Wilson led the Devils with 20 points.

Alabama A&M travels to Alabama State for a 3:00 p.m. tip Saturday.
