Alabama A&M dug itself too big of a hole Saturday in the SWAC opener at Jackson State. The Bulldogs shot just 33 percent in the first half and trailed the Tigers 34-23 at the break. A furious rally to begin the second half got A&M within one point, but JSU pulled away to the 66-55 victory.
The Bulldog defense forced 27 turnovers, however AAMU converted just 14 of 29 free throws and shot only 31.6 percent from the field in the loss.
Rebekkah Barnes connected on 6-9 from the field, including 3-4 from behind the three-point arc, to lead the Bulldogs with 15 points. Katrich Williams and Felicia Drummond each chipped in with 10 points.
