The Bulldogs dropped two games on the road this past weekend against SWAC opponents Southern and Jackson State. Southern handed A&M its first conference loss with a 2-1 overtime decision. The Bulldogs are back in action on Fri. Oct. 31 against Alcorn State at home beginning at 3 p.m.
Southern 2, Alabama A&M 1 (OT)
The Jaguars took a 1-0 advantage in the 68th minute. LeTisha Davis scored five seconds before the end of play to tie the score at one, and to send the game into an extra period. Southern's Kendall Smith scored off a penalty kick at the 102:27 mark for the 2-1 final.
The Bulldogs outshot the Jaguars 16-5. Goalie Raquel Johnson made three saves on the day.
Jackson State 2, Alabama A&M 1
The Tigers took a 1-0 lead 18 minutes into the first period off a Shadein Mars goal. The Bulldogs scored at the 40 minute mark off the foot of LaTonya Davis to head into intermission with the score knotted at one. JSU scored again in the 74th minute to ultimately take the lead for good.
With the loss, the Bulldogs will battle it out with Alcorn and Mississippi Valley for a second place finish in the Eastern Division.
A&M will play at home on Oct. 31 at 3 p.m. against Alcorn State.
