Bulldogs End in 2-2 Double OT Tie Against Rival Mississippi Valley

Alabama A&M and Mississippi Valley battled to a 2-2 double overtime knot on Nov. 2 at the AAMU Soccer Complex in its regular season finale and senior day. Belinda Kanda scored both goals en route to the tie. With the draw, the Bulldogs will remain in third place and finish the regular season 2-1-1 in conference play heading into the SWAC Tournament.

Mississippi Valley scored ten minutes into the game off the foot of Alecia Taw for a header goal by Kathleen Fogarty. A&M responded at 24:40 with a Kanda goal for the 1-1 tie heading into intermission. In the second half, the Delta Devils scored at the 55:26 mark to take a 2-1 advantage. Kanda scored again with just over ten minutes remaining in the game to even the score at two. Neither team could manage to score in the two extra periods.

The Bulldogs outshot the Delta Devils 17-9. Christina Igono assisted on both of A&M's goals.

A&M will travel to Itta Bena, Miss. as the three seed from the East to defend its crown at the 2008 SWAC Tournament. The tournament will be held from Nov. 5-9.
