Desmond Jackson exploded for six three pointers and a career high 18 points to lead Alabama A&M to its third straight victory, a 73-65 decision Monday over Texas Southern at Elmore Gymnasium. Trant Simpson led the Bulldogs with 22 points, and Mickell Gladness just missed his second triple-double of the season with 19 points, 13 rebounds and eight blocked shots.
The Bulldog defense forced 21 turnovers and A&M outscored the Tigers 18-7 from the free throw line to make the difference in the game. Alabama A&M scored 26 points off those 21 TSU miscues.
Matthew Miller caught fire for the Tigers in the second half and finished with 21 points. Sollie Norwood and Anthony Ike had 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Bulldogs are now 7-12 overall and 4-5 in the SWAC. TSU stands at 4-18 and 3-6.
