It was a beautiful day in Montgomery for the Lady Bulldogs who have seen nothing but cold weather and biting wind. The Ladies of A&M showed their appreciation by blanking host Alabama State, 7-0.
On her final match on the courts of Alabama State, Lady Bulldog Charlene Tsangamwe got another in a long line of wins. On the day, she won with Lauren Cintron in doubles, and then picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win in singles; however, this day was an introduction of sorts for freshman Tachon McClaine.
McClaine, a freshman, teamed with Me'Shala Johnson at #1 doubles and scored an 8-1 win before playing to a 6-1, 3-6, 6-0 win at #3 singles.
"I'm always glad to get a win," commented coach Thomas Colvin. "We made way too many errors from just a lack of focus and that can't happen. We got the "W", but we've got a lot of areas we have to get better in."
The Lady Bulldogs swept the doubles matches and followed that by sweeping the singles matches as well.
Johnson won 6-0, 6-0 at #2 singles, Djuana Grant won 6-3, 6-1 at #6, and Cintron pulled out a 6-2, 7-5 win at #4.
Freshman Yemurai Muskwe started well, but didn't get to do much at #5 as she won her match early with an injury default. She teamed up with Grant at #3 doubles and secured an 8-1 win.
