Alcorn, Miss. -
Alabama A&M snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 7-5 win in the middle game of the Alcorn State series over the weekend and that win was good enough to get the Bulldogs into this week's SWAC Tournament at Prairie View, Texas. Alcorn State won the opening and final games of the series 3-0 and 2-1, respectively. Despite a loss in the opening game of the series, AAMU pitching standout Debra Borcherding recorded her 700th career strikeout.
A&M finishes the regular season with a 9-8 record in the SWAC, tied for third in the East with Jackson State. The Bulldogs qualify for the SWAC Tournament having taken two of three games from the Tigers.
Alabama A&M will open tournament play Thursday at 3:30 p.m. against Grambling.
