Five Run First Inning Dooms A&M

Prairie View, Tex. - The Alabama A&M softball team could not recover from Alcorn State's five run first inning as the Bulldogs' season came to an end in the third round of the SWAC Tournament.

A&M's only run came in the bottom of the sixth when Ne'Chell Bowens reached first base on a walk, advanced to second on a passed ball, and scored on a LaRae Lucero double to center field.

Hali Buie took the loss at the mound - pitching 2 innings and allowing five runs. Lady's Braves pitcher Michelle Lewis was awarded the win - allowing only six hits and a run.

Offensively for the Bulldogs, Lucero went 2-for-3 with an RBI. The Lady Braves' Michelle Lewis went 2-for-4 and Hanako Kilburn was 1-for-3 with four RBI and a run scored.

With the loss, A&M's softball season comes to a close.
