Huge Second Half Propels A&M Past Miles

Carter nears first career double-double

Box Score / Photo Gallery / With just under a minute left in the game, and Alabama A&M leading by 22 on the scoreboard, it would be a struggle to believe that the Bulldogs once trailed by as many as 11 points in the first half and by five points at the intermission Saturday against Miles. Yet, that is what happened.  A dismal first half by A&M led to a dominant final 20 minutes as the Bulldogs defeated the Golden Bears 76-57 at Elmore Gymnasium.

Katrich Williams led the Bulldogs with 20 points, but it was the combination of freshmen centers Brittney Carter and NaDra Robertson that sparked the A&M comeback.  Carter finished with 14 points and a game-high eight rebounds.  Robertson had 11 points, four rebounds, and three blocked shots.

The Bulldogs shot just 29 percent in the first half, and Miles led 31-26 at the break.  The Bears led 29-18 with just over four minutes to play in the half.  After tying the game at 33, A&M went on a 19-6 run to put the game out of reach.  Whiquitta Tobar keyed the run with six of her eight points and three of her five assists in that stretch.

Alabama A&M improves to 2-3 on the season and will travel next Sunday to Tennessee State.
