Trant Simpson's 19 second half points led A&M for a convincing 63-45 win over Grambling State. Simpson was 8-of-13 for 21 points on the night. Kudus Ogbara had a season-high 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field in a season-high 31 minutes. Desmond Jackson chipped in with seven points. The Bulldogs will play their regular season finale against Jackson State on Sat. March 7 beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The Tigers led 32-25 with 18:43 remaining in the game. A Jonathan Belt basket on the following possession sparked A&M to rip off a 12-3 run to tie it at 35-35, and then scored five more unanswered points to take a five point advantage at 12:03. GSU brought the margin to 40-38, but would not get within more than two points as the Bulldogs closed out the last seven minutes with a 18-2 run.
For Grambling, Donald Qualls recorded 10 points on the night. Corrie Austin pulled down a game-best eight rebounds.
In the first 20 minutes, A&M held an eight point margin, 19-11 with 9:10 remaining. The Tigers used a 19-6 run the end the half ahead 30-25.
A&M will face Jackson State on Sat. March 7 for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
