ALCORN STATE, Miss. - Box Score / Alabama A&M completed a two-game road sweep Monday with an 84-70 victory over Alcorn State. Casey Cantey scored 20 points off the A&M bench, and Bo Amusa continued his stellar play with 15 points and a team-high seven rebounds. The back-to-back conference road wins are the first since the end of the 2007-08 season when A&M finished the SWAC road season with three straight wins over Mississippi Valley State, Texas Southern, and Prairie View A&M. The 84 points on the road is the highest total since the opening SWAC road trip that same season at Grambling, when the Bulldogs posted a 94-61 win.
The Bulldogs consistently converted Alcorn turnovers into easy baskets and built a solid 12-point halftime lead, 42-30. The lead was never threatened in the second half as the Braves could draw no closer than 10, and Alabama A&M built a lead that grew to 20 with just under 12 minutes to play.
A&M got 12 points from Cornelius Hester and 11 from Marcus Lee.
The win pushes the Bulldogs to 6-9 overall and 3-4 in the SWAC with Prairie View and Texas Southern coming to Elmore on Saturday and Monday, respectively.
