PINE BLUFF -- Alabama A&M fought hard but lost a nail bitter 21-14 to the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions in front of 11,805 in attendance.
Starting their second straight games in their collegiate careers, sophomore Kaderius Lacey rushed for 112 yards on 20 carries while freshman quarterback Justin Jones had a season high 100 yards on the ground and 103 in the air on 12-23 passing with one interception. Senior Rashad Johnson was the only Maroon & White receiver to record a touchdown in the last two contest played. The Mobile, Alabama native led the team with five receptions for 45 yards and the score.
Defensively sophomore Vernon Marshall ended the game leading the team in tackles for the fourth occasion this season with eight, two for a loss of four yards and two pass breakups.
This was head coach Anthony Jones third loss to the Lions in his nine years in the Maroon & White. The last time Jones was 2-5 after seven games was the 2008 season where he finished the year 5-7, including a 17-16 victory in the Magic City Classic.
