BOXSCORE

BIRMINGHAM
– No offense was the exclamation point today for the Alabama A&M Bulldogs who fell 31-10 to Alabama State University in the 69th annual State Farm Magic City Classic presented by Coca Cola.

A&M (2-6, 1-5 SWAC) was led offensively by sophomores Kaderius Lacey and senior Tony Green who each rushed for 80 yards. Green carried the ball 11 times in his final Classic. Lacey totaled a game high 18 carries with his longest run at 17 yards. Sophomore quarterback Deaunte Mason finished the contest with three completions off of eight attempts and two interceptions before he reinjured his groin and was replaced by freshman Justin Jones. Jones went 8 of 19 for 63 yards. He threw an interception and his second touchdown pass of the season.

Sophomore G’Alonzo Milton recorded the 14-yard touchdown for A&M while Chance Wilson posted his seventh field goal of the year. Out of 13 drives for A&M today 10 ended in a turnover or punt.  As a team they totaled a season low 210 yards with 87 of those in the air.

This loss makes four in a row for head coach Anthony Jones, a first in his tenure at the helm of the Bulldog program.

Next up the Maroon & White welcomes Alcorn State University to a 1 pm contest on Saturday, November 6.

The A&M athletics department has deemed the game Military Day in recognizing and honoring area members of the U.S. Military for their remarkable dedication and service to our nation. Bulldog athletics is offering one (1) game ticket with a valid active duty military identification for $10.00.

At halftime, of that same contest, all former football players will be recognized as A&M continues to celebrate 100 years of football on “The Hill”.
