GREENVILLE, MS –The Alabama A&M Bulldogs football team broke their five game losing streak with a 21-7 victory over the Devils of Mississippi Valley State University.
The Maroon & White (3-7 overall, 2-5 SWAC) was led by senior Tony Green who rushed for 118 yards on 22 carries and a touchdown. Sophomore Kaderius Lacey added 116 yards on 16 rushes as the Bulldogs showcased their Mad Dog offense. Seldom used sophomore, Devron Owensby, posted 22 yards on just three carries. Freshman quarterback Justin Jones completed nine passes off of 14 attempts for 173 yards. Sophomore G’Alonzo Milton finished with a career high 119 yards on three receptions. Milton caught a 92 yarder from Jones but was caught from behind before he could score. The pass was the longest recorded this season for the Bulldogs.
Defensively junior Dee Lett and senior Afu Okosun led A&M with nine tackles. Lett posted 5 tackles-for-loss for 18 yards. Okosun totaled eight solo stops and three TFL’s for six yards. The College Park native also recorded a force fumble.
All three Maroon & White scores came off runs as they totaled 270 yards on the ground versus Mississippi Valley.
The Devils managed 128 yards rushing and just 123 passing yards as their lone six points came in the third quarter as Tristan Hudnall ran in on a 12 yard sweep. Valley drops their final contest of the season and falls to 0-10 on the year.
A&M will welcome Prairie View A&M on Senior, High School and NASA day on “The Hill” on Saturday November 20. Game time is set for 1 pm.
