A&M and State Faceoff on the Hardwood

NORMAL – Alabama A&M will welcome in-state rival the Hornets of Alabama State University on Saturday, January 15th on “The Hill” in Elmore Gymnasium.

The Lady Bulldogs are currently in first-place in the conference holding on to the last perfect record at 4-0. Junior guard Whiquitta Tobar leads the Maroon & White averaging 17.5 points per game. Tobar also leads the team with 85 rebounds averaging 6.1 per contest.

State is current lead by Tanika Jackson who averages a double double with 19.4 ppg and 11.0 and boards per contest.

The men's game features two teams fighting to keep pace in the league race as both teams enter with 2-2 records.

Cornelius Hester and Casey Cantey lead A&M with 10.0 points per game. Freshman Demarquelle Tabb leads the team with 70 rebounds after playing in 11 contest averaging 6.4. Tabb holds the first spot in offensive rebounds in the Southwestern Athletic Conference with 2.6 per game.

The Hornets men’s squad is led by Kenderek Washington with 8.7 ppg. Chris Duncan is averaging 6.2 boards per contest after pulling in 37 in six contest.
