Gamecocks Holds Off A&M

COLUMBIA - The Alabama A&M women’s basketball team dropped a 60-53 decision to the Gamecocks of South Carolina at Colonial Life Arena on Monday night.

he Lady Bulldogs were lead by Whiquitta Tobars' game-best 20 points and five boards. Shundray Davis tallied 11 points and seven rebounds, in 35 minutes of action.

The Bulldogs fall to 0-2 overall.

Neither team shot well for the game as A&M finished with a 33.3 (20-for-60) shooting percentage while USC had a 36.7 (22 for 60) clip. The Bulldogs won the battle of the boards 41-39.

The Gamecocks recorded four players in double figures. Ashley Burner led her team with 15 points and eight boards. La’Keshia Sutton and Leasia Walker each had 13 respectively. Aleighsa Welch chipped in with 12 points. USC improves to 2-0 overall.

The Lady Bulldogs will host Lipscomb University on Saturday, Nov. 19, in Elmore gymnasium. The game is slated for 5:00 p.m.
