Bulldogs to play Blazers in final Non-conference Contest.

NORMAL -- Alabama A&M (2-6) comes into Saturday afternoon's contest on a five-game losing skid after a 78-68 road loss to Tennessee State on Dec. 21.  The University of Alabama-Birmingham will host A&M in their final non-conference contest.

The Bulldogs began the season with wins in two of their first three games, averaging 79.3 points a game. But in the five games since, AAMU is scoring just 53.6 points a game as a team.

Senior guard Casey Cantey is the team's offensive leader, topping the Bulldogs with an average of 14.5 points per game. Sophomore guard Jeremy Crutcher is the only other player to average double figures, with 10.1 points a contest. Crutcher also leads the team in assists (3.3) and minutes per game (28.6), while Cantey collects a team-leading 1.5 steals a game.  Sophomore forward Demarquelle Tabb is the team's top rebounder (7.0 rpg) and shot blocker (1.6 bpg), while also contributing 9.0 points per game.

As a team, the Bulldogs are averaging 63.2 points a game and are allowing opponents to score 75.5 points a game, resulting in a -12.3 scoring margin on the season. The Maroon & White shoots 38.3 percent from the floor and 26.0 percent from beyond the arc, while allowing the opposition to shoot 45.6 percent overall and 36.3 percent from deep.

Last year the Blazers trailed 18-17 at halftime, which marked the fewest points scored by UAB in a half all season. With the Bulldogs ahead 23-19, UAB used a 14-0 spurt, to lead 33-23.
