NORMAL – Twin sisters Brittany and Alyssa Strickland each scored in double figures to lead the Alabama A&M women’s basketball team to a 61-50 win over Prairie View A&M in their final regular season home game.
As a team, the Lady Bulldogs (14-12, 10-6 SWAC) shot just 35 percent from the floor but dominated the boards finishing the game with a 41-27 advantage. The Maroon and White also scored 17 points off of 25 Lady Tiger’s turnovers. Freshman guard Alyssa scored 14 points while twin sister Brittney finished with 11.
Junior guard Whiquitta Tobar chipped in with nine points and eight rebounds.
The Lady Panthers, the number two ranked team in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, was led by Robin Jones with 15 and Siarra Soliz who added 13 respectively.
Next up for A&M is a trip to Grambling, Louisiana to face the Lady Tigers of Grambling State University. The match-up is set for Thursday, March 3, at 5:30 p.m.
