GRAMBLING - The Alabama A&M women’s basketball team picked up its first SWAC win on the road over Grambling State University 76-64 in the Fred C. Hobdy Arena on Thursday night.

Jasmine Sanders led all scorers with 17 points. Whiquitta Tobar and Shundray Davis each had 15 for the Lady Bulldogs.

A&M was up 18-4 with 10:32 remaining in the first half, that’s when the GSU shooting got hot. The Lady Tigers connected on five three pointers to cut the A&M lead 27-26, with 3:53 remaining in the game. The teams then went into intermission tied at 32.

A&M shot 52 percent from the field connecting on 24 of 46 shots. The Maroon and White outrebounded the Lady Tigers 40-35.

Savannah Carter had 12 points in the loss for GSU.

Up next the Lady Bulldogs will host Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday, January 7, at 3:00 p.m. on “The Hill”.
