NORMAL -- Two Lady Bulldogs tallied double figures as Alabama A&M defeated the Lady Lions of Arkansas Pine-Bluff 64-44 Saturday afternoon.
Senior Whiquitta Tobar led all scorers with 20 points while freshman guard Shundray Davis contributed 10 points and four steals. Tobar’s 20 was the eighth contest this season in which she scored 20 or more points.
The Maroon & White shot a game high of 41% from the floor, and 87% from the charity stripe.
The Lady Lions controlled the contest with their rebounding prowess grabbing 40 boards, 21 of which came on the offensive glass.
A&M had a total of 30 rebounds and outscored UAPB 19-13 in second chance points.
Chigozi Okwumabua scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while her teammate Jenise Gentry contributed 11 points in Pine Bluff's 13th straight loss.
Next up the Lady Bulldogs will host Mississippi Valley State University on Monday, January 9th. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 p.m. in Elmore Gymnasium.
