Lady Bulldogs welcome Alabama-Birmingham to “The Hill”

NORMAL – Head coach Altherias Warmley will have the honor of hosting her alumnus to Elmore gymnasium when the Lady Blazers of the University of Alabama-Birmingham visits on Monday evening at 6 p.m.

The Lady Bulldogs are coming off a 62-51 win over Miles College in their season opener a first since the ‘06-‘07 season. Brittney Strickland scored 15 points to lead A&M. The victory was in spite of the 34 percent (24-69) shooting by the Maroon & White.

UAB picked up its first season-opening victory since 2010 on Friday when the squad ran past the Lady Governors.

The Blazers won with a strong defensive effort, scoring 32 points off 29 Austin Peay turnovers.
Led by senior forward Michaelea Kleist’s 14 points, UAB had four players score in double figures against APSU; including 13 from freshman forward Kayla Anderson.

The Blazers hold a 5-0 advantage in the all-time series with the Lady Bulldogs with the last meeting on Dec. 15, 2011, a 57-46 Blazer win.
