Auburn To Strong For Alabama A&M In Women's Basketball

Box Score

AUBURN -- Alyssa Strickland scored 15 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Bulldogs of Alabama A&M fell to the Tigers of Auburn 93-44, on Sunday afternoon in Auburn Arena.

Auburn opened a 31-11 lead on the back of a 16-4 run that was capped off by four-straight points by Pascale West.
The Lady Bulldogs shot a 29 percent, 16-54 from the floor, a season-low. NaDra Robertson led AAMU with six rebounds.

Head Coach Altherias Warmley stated, "I thought Auburn did a great job. We were not able to overcome their size and length. There were times where we were able to break the press and get some good looks.”

“It is tough when you are 5'3 and 5'4 and you've got a 6-foot defender out on the perimeter and 6'5 forwards down low."

Auburn held its largest lead of 53 points with 2:15 remaining. The Tigers out-scored Alabama A&M 44-18 in the second half and scored 34 points off of 23 A&M turnovers.

"Against the bigger teams, you have to attack the basket,” Warmley continued. I don't think we got to the foul line enough. We didn't do anything to have them pull their press off.”

“When you have a team that presses and falls back into a zone, you have to shoot them out of it. We didn't shoot well enough.”

“We are going to learn a lot from this,” Warmley mentioned. “We have to defend harder and be more determined to stop things that other teams are doing."

A&M is back in action on November 23rd in Lawrence, Kansas when they take on the Jayhawks. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
