Bulldogs fall 69-59 to Texas Southern

HOUSTON – Alabama A&M earned their 19th loss of the season at the hands of Texas Southern University Monday night in the HPER arena.

Sophomore Brandon Ellis tied the game at 32 with 12:45 to play. But Texas Southern countered with a 7-0 run that gave the Tigers control at 39-32 and the final lead of the game.

The Bulldogs have struggled on the road this season while the Tigers were rolling, having won four of their last five. A&M lost to the Tigers earlier this season in Elmore gymnasium, 73-61.

TSU created more second chance opportunities with a total of nine offensive rebounds to only seven by the Maroon & White.  The Tigers were more aggressive on defense as well, with 24 takeaways compared to 15 for the Bulldogs.

Jeremy Crutcher led A&M with 13 points on 62% shooting in 35 minutes of action and Justin Banks’ eight rebounds paced the Bulldogs (6-19, 4-12), who have dropped six of seven.

Jeremy Crutcher had a career high with a 100% three point percentage.

This was the second foul out of the season for Justan Banks.

Jeremy Crutcher has led the team in scoring in four out of 25 games this season.

In 100% of losses this season, A&M has recorded 13 or fewer free throws made.

The Maroon & White have lost 100% of the time (0-8) after recording two or fewer blocks.
