Alabama A&M Ends Season with a 75-62 Loss

GARLAND – Sophomores Demarquelle Tabb scored a season high 20 points and Brandon Ellis added 19 as the

Alabama A&M Bulldogs loss to Texas Southern University 75-62 in the quarterfinal round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference basketball tournament.

A&M held the lead on six different occasions in the game but saw their last, 27-26 with 4:23 left in the first half.

The Bulldogs hit 42% (22-of-52) from the field, 86% (12-14) from the charity stripe but only 27% (6-23) from the three-point line.

The Tigers shot 52% (26-of-50) in field goals and also out-rebounded the Bulldogs 36-26. 

The Maroon & White could not keep pace with TSU who hit (13-20) for 65 percent in the second half.

"I didn't go to my bench much for personal reasons," Hayes said. "I stuck with the guys. I'm real proud of these sophomores. They play hard and give us energy."

AAMU’s starting guard Jeremy Crutcher scored nine points dished out five assists.

The Bulldogs finish 7-21 in Hayes' first season as head coach. They have not advance past the first round since winning the SWAC tournament game in 2005.
