Cold shooting leaves Bulldogs with fourth straight loss

NORMAL -- Junior Demarquelle Tabb was the lone bright spot for the men's basketball team with 17 points in their sixth conference loss. Prairie View A&M University totaled four players in double figures and handed A&M a 65-46 loss on Monday night.

In a game where the Maroon & White mustered only 24% from the floor.  It was the lowest field goal percentage of the season; the lowest field goals made 13, lowest three point percentage .043 and tied for second lowest point total all season long.  The Maroon & White’s Baryn Houston scored three points and added three rebounds.

Josh Eleby finished with a team-high 17 points and six rebounds for the Panthers. Jordan DeMuynck scored 15 points and Jules Montgomery had 12 points and 12 rebounds as the Panthers won at home for the fourth straight time. Prairie View maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half.

Tabb added nine rebounds to his team high for Alabama A&M (7-13, 3-6). The Bulldogs went to the free-throw line 27 times, making 19. They were however called for only seven fouls in the game.

Head coach Willie Hayes moves to 0-5 in the state of Texas since taking over the men’s program.  The losses include a first round defeat in the 2011-12 SWAC tournament last season.

Next up for the Bulldogs is Mississippi Valley State who is 3-16 overall and 3-6 in the league.  They will play on Saturday, Feb 2nd in the T. M. Elmore gymnasium at 5 p.m.
