AAMU Closes Out Regular Season with Loss To Jackson State, 60-57

JACKSON, Miss. - Jeremy Crutcher's three pointer attempt fell short for A&M, as time ran out, losing to Jackson
State 60-57, Saturday evening at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center.

Kelsey Howard scored 20 points and Christian Williams had 19 points to lead Jackson State.

In the second half, JSU took its largest lead of the game 38-31, with 16:45 to play.  However, A&M went on a 12 to zero run to go up 43-38 on the Tigers, with 12:26 remaining.

Jackson State led 58-54 with 14 seconds left when Willie Readus made a free throw. Alabama A&M's Nicholas West cut the deficit to 58-57 on his 3-pointer with 7 seconds remaining.

But two seconds later, Williams made two free throws that ultimately sealed it for the Tigers.

A&M would score 30 points in the paint and 16 second chance points.  The Bulldogs out rebounded the Tiger 38 to 21.
Crutcher scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Alabama A&M. Brandon Ellis had 10 points and Demarquelle Tabb pitched in with 10 rebounds.

Jackson State shot 38 percent 19 of 50 from the floor, while the Bulldogs made 42.9 percent 24 of 56 of their shots.

With the loss, A&M is the sixth seed in the 2013 Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament.  The Maroon and White will face the seven seeded Tigers of Grambling State.  The tournament is slated for March 12-16 at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas.
