Zucnick-Kimbugwe wins ALATA Award

NORMAL – Alabama A&M’s head athletic trainer Jessie Zucnick-Kimbugwe recently won the Alabama Athletic Trainers Association Collegiate Athletic Trainer (ALATA) of the year award.
 
The award recognizes an athletic trainer at the college/university level for service to the institution, the community, as well as ALATA. This person also serves many functions in addition to athletic training.
 
“Its and honor and a privilege to accept this award from my colleagues who have recognized the hard work I have put in at A&M.  I greatly appreciate the ALATA for granting me the opportunity and recognition,” Zucnick-Kimbugwae mentioned. 

“I would like to thank Huntsville Hospital and Alabama A&M for allowing me to work at a job I love and with great people.  I couldn’t do what I do without my staff and their support,” commented Zucnik-Kimbugwe.

Zucnick-Kimbugwe just finished here fifth year as head athletic trainer at AAMU after being promoted to the position in May 2009.

In addition to her sports coverage she is also the insurance coordinator for the Maroon & White sport medicine department, as well as overseeing the overall direction of the program and supervising assistant athletic trainers, graduate assistants and student athletic trainers.

Jessie is a NATABOC certified athletic trainer and a member of the NATA and SEATA organizations. She is also licensed in the state of Alabama.

For all her dedication to the A&M sports medicine department Jessie was awarded the 2007 Employee of the Year award by Huntsville Hospital Sports Center.

The Alabama Athletic Trainers' Association is the professional membership organization for all athletic training professionals and students in Alabama.  It is one of seven state organizations in the Southeast Athletic Trainers' Association (SEATA) which is District IX of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA).  It is a not-for-profit organization dealing with the concerns of its members and the profession of athletic training as a whole.
