Bulldogs and Hornets Clash on the Hardwood

Normal- The Bulldog basketball teams will battle their in-state rival the Alabama State Hornets on Saturday, January 18, in Montgomery, Alabama, at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

This will be the first Bulldog-Hornet rivalry match for first year head coach Semeka Randall.  Randall's Maroon & White squad will enter the game coming off an 83-77 overtime loss to the Delta Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State University at home Monday night.
 
Leading the Bulldogs thus far is Brittany Strickland sinking 16.4 points per game. Jasmine Sanders adds 12.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.
 
A&M will enter Saturday's contest at 3-11 overall and 1-3 in the SWAC, while the Lady Hornets will enter at 8-7 overall and 1-3 in SWAC play.  The Hornets were successful in their last outing, as they beat the UAPB Lady Golden Lions 70-61.
 
Nakiya Smith's 10 points a game leads ASU. The Hornets also rely on Quentori Alford's 9.6 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.
 
The Bulldogs will tip off versus the Lady Hornets at 3:00 p.m.
 
After the women battle, the men will take center stage in part two of the double-header rivalry.
 
The Hornets will enter the game at 9-6 (3-1 SWAC) on the season. ASU is currently on a two-game win streak and is undefeated at home in the 2013-14 campaign at 7-0.
 
In their last outing, Jamel Waters tied his career-high with 27 points and Bobby Brown added 17 as Alabama State came from 12 points down to defeat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 77-64 on Monday night.
 
Leading the 6-8 (3-2 SWAC) Bulldogs is Demarquelle Tabb who averages 10 points and 5.9 rebounds a game. Point guard G.A. Hill, who led the way in Monday night's 68-59 victory over Mississippi Valley State, had a team high 13 points and eight rebounds in the victory.
 
The men are set to tip off at 5:00 p.m. in the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
