Bulldogs earn their second straight win

GRAMBLING – The A&M men's basketball team earned their second straight win of the year with a 70-58 victory over Grambling State Monday night.

On a cold evening the Tigers found themselves cold from the field shooting 19 of 47 from for 40 percent but saw the Maroon & White put up 24 baskets out of 58 shots taken for 54 percent in their second straight victory of the year.

Jeremy Crutcher scored a season high 20 points to lead A&M while Jose Long put up 11 points and nine rebounds and GA Hill added 10 and six assists.

A'Torri Shine led all scorers with 22 points and was the only Tiger in double digits.

Alabama A&M was in a fight in the first half giving up a three point lead at the 14:52 mark in the first and did not see it again until the 3:09 mark toward the end of the first.

The game was back and forth throughout the opening half with both teams trading baskets and Grambling only enjoying a six point lead on two separate occasions.

Even though the home team led through most of the first, A&M still held a two point 28-26 lead at the break. 

From there it was all A&M who controlled the inside and outside game and enjoyed their greatest lead of 12 points at one point in the contest.

AAMU outscored GSU 23-9 in points in the paint, 17-16 in turnover points and 41-13 in bench opportunities.

This is the second occasion A&M has enjoyed a two game win streak this year and improves their overall record to 5-7 and 2-0 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

A&M will enjoy this win and look to Arkansas-Pine Bluff for their competition on Saturday, January 11, at 6:00 p.m. in Elmore Gymnasium.
