GRAMBLING, La - Brittney Strickland scored a career high 32 points and Taylor Sippial contributed 10 as Alabama A&M fell to the Lady Tigers of Grambling State, 90-77 on Monday night at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Arena.

The Maroon and White shot 27 percent from 3-point range this season, but couldn't find the rim in the first half.  Brittney, twin sister Alyssa Strickland and Kayla Lovett each hit one to help AAMU go three of six in the second half.

GSU's Joanna Miller scored 24 points and Victoya Ricks contributed with 20 for the Lady Tigers. Miller made all four 3-point attempts in the first half for 12 points.
 
The first half showed rust from the field for visiting team as they went 9-for-33 for 27 percent compared to the home teams 12-for-29 for 41%. The free-throw line was kinder and saw A&M produce 11-for-17 but it also saw GSU hit nine out of 11 from the charity stripe.

"It's all about defense and rebounding," Randall said. "That's what we come into games thinking about. When shots are falling, that's when it's kind of easier for us."

Alabama A&M's bench outscored Grambling's 21-14, won the points off turnovers battle 30-21 and took advantage of the fast break point opportunities 10-6.
 
B. Strickland, shot 6-for-14 from the floor, including 1-for-4 on 3-pointers, and made 19 of 23 free throws to help the Maroon and White to pull within eight, 73-65 late in the second half.

Alabama A&M went without a field goal for the final five minutes of the period, turning over the ball on seven consecutive possessions during one stretch. A&M committed 12 of their 24 turnovers in the second half.

A&M cut into the lead, but couldn't trim it to fewer than seven points until less than a minute remained in the game.

Grambling shot 53 percent from the floor, the best by an Alabama A&M opponent this season.
