Bulldogs Opens SWAC Play At Home

NORMAL -- Alabama A&M opens SWAC play hosting Jackson State on January 3, at 6:00 p.m., in the T.M. Elmore Gym.

The Bulldogs are 1-9 overall, and has been idle since a 76-39 loss to the Murray State University to wrap up its non-conference schedule on Dec. 30.

Marcus Merriweather led the Bulldogs in scoring with 11 points while playing just 18 minutes. Nick West had 9 points and a team-high 6 rebounds.

The Tigers travel to Normal, Ala. JSU (2-11) is coming off a two game losing streak after falling 56-49 at Tulane and 67-64 to in overtime to North Carolina Central at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center.  Raeford Worsham, who is the team's leading scorer (17.2 ppg), has led the team ins coring in the last two contests.  Kaven Bernard is the team's second leading scorer (10.5 ppg).

The two teams last met on Mar. 6, 2014 at Elmore Gymnasium in Normal, Ala. when the Tigers fell 72-59 to the Bulldogs. Javers Brent led the Tigers in scoring with14 points on 4-12 shooting from the field. He also dished out three assists.

Bulldogs Picked to Finish Seventh in the league. The Bulldogs, coming off of last season's fifth-place finish, were picked to finish seventh in the SWAC this season, picking up one first-place vote in the preseason poll voted on by the conference's head coaches and sports information directors.
