HUNTSVILLE, AL ---The Alabama A&M women's volleyball team fell to visiting Tennessee State, 3-0, on Tuesday night inside the T.M. Elmore Gym in non-conference action. With the loss, the Lady Bulldogs move to 5-16 on the year, while the win boosts the Lady Tigers record to 12-10 overall. The visitors got off to a quick start in all three games, winning by scores of 25-16, 25-19 and 25-11.
Individually, AAMU received decent offensive performances from sophomore Jaelin Gant and freshman Terra Brooks who each led the Lady Bulldogs with five kills, respectively. They also combined for a great deal of the Lady Bulldogs total attacks with 34. Gant also led the team with six digs and added two blocks.
Junior setter Riley Balsmeyer logged 17 assists and senior Ashundria McNeal registered five digs and three kills. Junior Courtney Oliver followed up with three digs, three kills, three blocks, and two block solos.
A&M competed hard throughout the match, with their best and closest set coming in the second set. AAMU registered a .292 hitting percentage in the second set compared to TSU's .276.
The Lady Bulldogs are hoping to rebound in their next match vs. Alabama State University. The Lady Bulldogs will be looking for their first conference win on the road Saturday, Oct. 15.
