Spady: Classic win was critical but time to focus on Grambling State

HUNTSVILLE -- Acknowledging the Magic City Classic win over Alabama State was "critical," Bulldogs Head Coach James Spady said, though, it's now time to "turn the page" to get ready for an explosive Grambling State team.

A&M will host the Tigers on Saturday for Senior Day, the final home game for several Bulldogs. It's also the annual Military Appreciation Day with kickoff set for 2 p.m.

Spady made his remarks at the weekly Southwestern Athletic Conference coaches conference call.

"We've gotta shake off all the extra stuff," Spady said. "It's a big win - it's critical to our program to win the Magic City Classic. We're excited to have that 'W'."

He then added the Bulldogs (3-4 SWAC, 3-5 overall) have a big task ahead of them now with Grambling State (5-0, 5-1).

"We've got to turn the page," Spady said. "And with all due respect to the game and how much it means to us and to our fan base, we've got to put it in the rearview mirror and get ready for Grambling who is a very explosive football team."

Grambling leads the SWAC in total offense, total defense, scoring offense and scoring defense.

"We've got to get our sleeves rolled up, and get back to fundamentals and be ready to have a game plan that we can take some of that explosiveness out their game and see if we can win it," he said.
