Bulldogs on the road at Troy

TROY - The Alabama A&M men's basketball team is back on the road this weekend. The Bulldogs visit Troy on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tipoff.

This is the first of a four-game road swing for A&M to wrap up the Bulldogs' non-conference schedule.

After Saturday, the Bulldogs visit Georgia State (Dec. 14, 6 p.m. Central), Bowling Green (Ohio) State (Dec. 22, 11 a.m. Central) and Western Michigan (Dec. 29, 6 p.m. Central).

All of the games can be heard on WJAB-FM 90.9 and wjab.org with Michael Burns on the play-by-play. The game will also be streamed at troytrojans.com.

FORMAL INTRODUCTION: This is the first-ever meeting between the two basketball programs – each of which were one time in NCAA Division II. The Bulldogs moved up to Division I in 1999 and Troy moved up in 2001.

YOUNG BLOOD: Freshman De'Ederick Petty is the top scorer for the Bulldogs, averaging 10.7 points per game.

CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARDS: Quinterian McConico, a second team All-SWAC preseason selection, is averaging 7.1 rebounds
per game – seventh in the conference.

THREE FOR A QUARTER: A trio of Bulldogs is among the SWAC's top 25 scoring leaders: De'Ederick Petty (No. 20, 10.7 ppg), Quinterian McConico (No. 23, 10 ppg) and Rakiya Battle (No. 25, 9.6 ppg).

DISHING IT OUT: Rakiya Battle, the SWAC's top assists player in each of the past two seasons, is third in the league with an average of 3.9 assists per game.
FOR THE RECORD: The Bulldogs are 0-7; Troy is 4-4, including an 83-65 win over Alabama State last Sunday.
