Lady Bulldogs bounced from SWAC softball tourney

IRONDALE, Ala. -- Tiana Sanders' first-inning home run got the Lady Bulldogs off to a good start in their elimination game with Alcorn State in the SWAC softball tournament.

However, that was the only score for Alabama A&M as they fell 8-1 Friday to the Lady Braves. Friday's action was a resumption of Thursday's scheduled start that was delayed because of bad weather.

Sanders' home run, her second of the tournament and 14th of the year, actually came Thursday night with two outs in the top of the first inning.

But the Lady Bulldogs ran into a buzzsaw in Alcorn State pitcher Ashley Breal, who led the SWAC with 164 strikeouts coming into the game with A&M. She fanned 13 Lady Bulldogs to run her total to 177.

The loss ends the season at 12-35 for the Lady Bulldogs who return their entire lineup next season - there are no seniors on the roster.
