Gameday: Lady Bulldogs at home

HUNTSVILLE -- Home sweet home.

The Lady Bulldogs basketball team will make its official 2017-18 home debut Wednesday. Tipoff is 6 p.m. at Elmore Gym.

A&M hosts Evansville of the Ohio Valley Conference in the regular season home opener.

The Lady Bulldogs are coming off a loss at Alabama last Friday in the season opener.

Against the Crimson Tide, Alexandra Johnson led A&M with the season's first double-double. The freshman from Pinson, Ala., scored 13 points and pulled down 14 rebounds.

Johnson is one of nine freshman on Head Coach Margaret Richards' young squad. She joins four sophomores and one junior for A&M. There are no seniors on the roster.

One of the returning "veterans" is sophomore Jameica Cobb, the SWAC Freshman of the Year in 2016-17.

After Wednesday, the Lady Bulldogs visit Tennessee State on Saturday and return home next Tuesday to host Austin Peay in a special Elementary School Day with an 11 a.m. tipoff.
