Lady Bulldogs to face FIU on Saturday

MIAMI – The Lady Bulldogs will take on Florida International on Saturday to open the FIU Thanksgiving Tournament. Joining A&M and the host Panthers are Charleston Southern and Hartford.

The Lady Bulldogs and FIU play at 11 a.m. (Central) Saturday, followed by Charleston Southern vs. Hartford.

According to the tournament format, FIU will play the first game Saturday (vs. A&M) and the last game Sunday. The winners of Saturday's games will play each other Sunday. Since FIU plays the final game Sunday, A&M will play either Charleston Southern or Hartford at 11 a.m. (Central) Sunday.

LAST TIME OUT: DeShawna Harper scored a season-high 17 points, including 5 of A&M's final 6 points, but it wasn't enough as the Lady Bulldogs fell 55-52 Tuesday to Austin Peay. Harper also had five steals in the game. Jameica Cobb added 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds.

ABOUT ALABAMA A&M: The Lady Bulldogs' 2-2 start is their best since the 2012-13 season. Freshman center Ashlyn Dotson is the leading scorer with a 11.5 points-per-game average. Sophomore shooting guard Jameica Cobb and freshman forward Alexandra Johnson lead the team in rebounding at 5.3 rpg.

ABOUT FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL: FIU is coming off a one-point win Monday over Air Force. The Panthers average 62.5 points per game and are shooting .381 from three-point range. Junior Kristian Hudson of Birmingham is the leading scorer averaging 20.5 points per game. She graduated from Clay-Chalkville High School.

ALABAMA A&M vs. FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL: This is the first meeting between the two programs.
