Lady Bulldogs cruise past West Alabama

LIVINGSTON, Ala. -- The Lady Bulldogs closed out the first half on a 13-1 run Tuesday en route to a 63-47 exhibition win at West Alabama.

Alabama A&M opens its regular season Friday at the University of Alabama. Tipoff is 6 p.m.

In Tuesday's win, Kanisha Tharpe's free throw with 4:48 left in the second quarter broke a 15-15 tie and started the 13-1 run to give A&M a 28-16 lead at the half.

Lauren McKee led all scorers with 18 points as she made 7 of 13 shots from the field, including 4 of 7 from beyond the arc.

DeShawna Harper added 17 points and made 3 of 7 from three-point range and Alexandra Johnson pulled down 9 rebounds for A&M.

The Lady Bulldogs' largest lead was 23 points with 2:14 left in the third quarter while UWA's largest lead was 7 points at the 5:15 mark of the first quarter.
