BEAUMONT, Tex. ---The Alabama A&M Softball team dropped a 6-3 ballgame on Thursday afternoon to host Lamar University and moved to 3-7 on the year.

The Lady Bulldogs trailed for most of the afternooon and the game got away from A&M in the first inning after allowing the Cardinals' four runs in bottom of the first, including three unearned runs.

The Cardinals' would go on to score their final two runs in the bottom of the second inning off a two RBI double.

Trailing 6-0 heading into the top of the sixth inning, Janae Adams kicked things off for the Lady Bulldogs with a single to shortstop and advanced to second after a single from Brandi Foreman. Lavarshia Thigpen advanced Foreman and Adams after a single up the middle, then a RBI single from Jessica Alferos scored Adams to cut Lamar's lead, 6-1.

A&M scored two more runs on Tamia Lee-Barbadillo's single through the right side but the sixth inning comeback attempt wouldn't be enough for the Lady Bulldogs as Lamar's defense shut them out quick in the seventh inning.

The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action at the Lamar University Cardinal Classic Friday morning as they face Tulsa University at 10 a.m
