HUNTSVILLE--- The Alabama A&M women's basketball team fell 53-39 to Texas Southern Monday evening at the T.M. Elmore Gym in the home finale.
AAMU's Jameica Cobb led the team with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Josta Totten contributed eight points  followed by six from Alisha Davis. In rebounds, Ebony Johnson, Hilary Williams and Juliette Akinwole each had five, respectively.
Lauren McKee opened up the game with a jumper to give A&M a 2-0 lead. The teams would tie at four before the Lady Tigers went on a 9-2 run to take a 18-9 lead with two minutes remaining in the first quarter.Â
Akinwole drove in for a layup with 48 seconds remaining followed by a TSU layup to give them a 20-11 lead to close out the quarter.
The teams exchanged points the entire second quarter with both teams only scoring nine points each. After allowing the Lady Bulldogs to cut their lead to seven, TSU managed to regain a nine point lead and went into halftime with a 29-20 lead.Â
The Lady Bulldogs managed 11 points in the third quarter and the Lady Tigers scored 10. A free throw from Davis and layup from Johnson to open the quarter would allow A&M to get within six. However, TSU went on a 5-0 run and extended their lead to 11 with 5:47 on the clock. The Lady Bulldogs continued to add baskets and trailed 39-31 heading into the fourth.Â
Texas Southern took its largest lead of 16 points six minutes in  the fourth quarter. The Lady Bulldogs were unable to get any closer than 14 before TSU claimed the win. Â
 The Lady Tigers shot 21-48 (43.8%) from the field, including 3-6 (50%) on three-point attempts.
 A&M made 14-60 field-goal attempts (23.3%) and converted on just 2-11 three-pointers (18.2%).
 The Lady Bulldogs outscored Texas Southern 14-10 in bench points. They also outscored TSU 5-4 in points off turnovers.Â
 The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action March 2nd at Jackson State before traveling to Grambling Saturday to close out the season.
