COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Carson McGregory had a three-hit night and Njike Hunter was hit three times but the Bulldogs dropped a 17-3 decision to Tennessee Tech on Wednesday.
The Bulldogs, though, got on the board first when McGregory ripped a one-out double down the rightfield line to score Hunter for a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
But Tennessee Tech answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning to go ahead 4-1.
The Golden Eagles scored two more runs in the bottom of the third inning to widen their lead to 6-2.
However, the Bulldogs responded when McGregory singled to score Carlton Peppers and cut Tennessee Tech's lead to 6-3 in the top of the fourth inning.
The Golden Eagles countered with a seven-run fifth inning to take command at 13-3.
The Bulldogs continue on the road this weekend at Alcorn State for a three-game SWAC East Division series. Game times are 6 p.m. Friday, 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
