GRAMBLING, La. -- In the final game of the 2016-17 season, the Bulldogs took a look toward the 2017-18 season.
The Bulldogs lost to Grambling State 78-57 Saturday night but were led in scoring by a pair of underclassmen.
Senior Adrian Edwards, in his final game for A&M, just missed a double-double with his 9-point, 9-rebound effort.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring on Petty's three-pointer just 24 seconds into the game.
However, Grambling scored the next two baskets to take the lead and hold it for the next 9 minutes.
A&M, however, recaptured the lead at 17-16 with 10:36 to play in the first half on Eugene Jones Jr.'s layup.
The Tigers made it 18-17 on their next possession but Ariston Johnson put the Bulldogs back on top at 19-18 with his layup at the 9:55 mark.
Grambling, though, went on a 18-4 run over the next six minutes to take command at 36-23.
