NEW ORLEANS -- It wasn't the way the Bulldogs wanted to end their season but the offense couldn't get rolling Thursday and resulted in a 6-2 loss to Southern.

With the loss, the Bulldogs were eliminated from the Southwestern Athletic Conference baseball tournament.

Trailing 1-0 in the second inning, A&M answered in the bottom of the inning.

Carson McGregory and Caleb Gay hit back-to-back one-out singles and Kyle Redmond worked a walk to load the bases.

Brandon Whitaker drove in McGregory when he reached base on a fielder's choice.

The Bulldogs took their only lead in the third inning on Zeth Malcom's sacrifice fly that scored Dalton Mitchell for the 2-1 lead.

Southern tied the score in the fourth inning and took a 4-2 lead in the fifth inning and wrapped up the scoring with a two-run ninth inning.

In his final game for A&M, Owen Stubberfield pitched 3.1 innings of scoreless relief after coming into the game in the sixth inning.

Blaine Milam scattered six hits and struck out two in his five innings of work. For Milam, a junior, this was his NCAA-leading 15th start of the season.
