BULLDOG BITES
Home away from home
Though being "on the road," the Bulldogs are accustomed to Legion Field. Alabama A&M has played in the annual Magic City Classic against Alabama State every October since 1940 (except for 1943-44) in the "Gray Lady." The Bulldogs also played UAB at Legion Field in 2014.

Grizzled vets
The Bulldogs will field the most veteran lineup in Head Coach James Spady's four years on The Hill. Alabama A&M returns seven starters on offense, eight on defense and all of the team's specialists.

Big Twin is back
Linebacker Bryan Brower returns to the Bulldog lineup after missing most of 2016 with a leg injury. The 2015 second team All-SWAC performer led A&M in tackles. He is the twin brother of running back Byran Brower – both have already graduated.

All-SWAC
There are five preseason All-Southwestern Athletic Conference selections wearing Maroon and White – the most in Spady's term. Running back Jordan Bentley; linebacker Kenneth Davis; defensive back Tere Calloway and kicker Nick Carden were named to the All-SWAC preseason first team and offensive lineman Austin Simmons was a second team selection.

Freshman at the helm
Freshman Aqeel Glass emerged from a three-way competition to win Alabama A&M's starting quarterback position. Glass, a 6-4, 225-pound freshman from St. Louis, passed for 2,811 yards in his senior year at Lutheran North High School. He threw 32 touchdown passes with 14 interceptions while completing 157 out of 280 passes.

Bulldogs vs. Blazers
This is just the second meeting between the two schools that are about 100 miles apart. UAB won the previous matchup 41-14 in 2014.

Return of the returner
Return specialist Octayvious Miles is back after missing the 2016 season. In 2015, he was second in the nation in kickoff return yards while setting school records for a season (849 yards); game (192 yards vs. Alabama State); and longest return (99 yards vs. Jackson State).
